Offensive Line Empty Offensive Line

This is not only our weakest link on the team but this is one of the bottom 5 offensive lines in the league. And there is no end in sight. I even feel sorry for Harrell. $100 Million QB and a 5 and dime line. You wonder who will get pounded more, Lacy or ARod?

Well, Vince certainly showed he's the dude for the back up spot. Harrell is still lost in space. Coleman shows signs of improving but with the stiffs he's playing with it won't manifest.
If Vince Young had to be our starter he'd lead the team in rushing.

Leave it to Capt. Crash to take the most pessimistic spin on things and then lather it up with a few hyperboles!

Last week you doubted that Green Bay could win three games in the 2013 season.  Is your prediction fading down to 2-14 or 1-15 now?

Oh, and my take is that, while it wasn't our line's finest hour, they did just fine when A-Rod was out there.  Ample protection and Harris even ripped off a good one.  Once Harrell and Lacy went in, things changed.  Seattle just focussed on stopping Lacy.  After the twos and threes went in, it was difficult to assess anything on the line.

I came away from the game feeling good about the fact that Bahktiari continues to play well.  He could be another draft steal.  I also like the fact that our pass rush is not only getting pressure but maintaining discipline against a mobile QB.

The bummers:  1) The injury to Harris.  Looks like another one could bite the dust.  2) Our back up QBs are a terrible group.  I think Young has risen to the #2 spot.  3) Likewise, most of our low end receivers suck.  No hands.  There's going to be a big purge of them this week.  4)  I'm still uneasy about the kicking situation.  I don't think either of these guys are very good.  I expect Crosby to keep his job and that scares me.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's just the preseason, folks.  Detroit (without Megatron) slaughtered the Patriots yesterday.  Think that really means something?

I like the experiment of Masthay kicking off. He has quite a leg. And as far as player of the game he deserves a lot of credit. Our coverage was lacking on a couple of punts. But he hit several over 50 and even 61 especially when the field was tilted against us. He had to rekick several times due to penalties. You would think his leg would tire out.
We still will have to be a pass first team in order to loosen up defenses.

This is just preseason......but I agree all points are valid (so far LOL LOL).   Basically the Packers are just a few injuries away from not winning the Central/North.    Very tenuous situation TT has put us in.  I am talking about the offensive line and receiver corps.    The D "is what it is" ....... they either wake up and play or we're destined for 11-5 at best.......possibly 9-7.  Rodgers can only pull so many rabbits out of the hat.........   Defense Wins Championships and Turnovers Win Games.   Vince Young should be our #2.    Cut Harrell........the guy will never be a Matt Flynn.

Masthay kicking off is your clue that they're seriously considering going with the kid at kicker...as that is the only area that Crosby has proven superior in...

The D last night was the same D we've seen throughout the Capers era...  Clear out the linebackers then hammer the flats in the middle of the field to score big chunks of yardage time and time again.  The offense will be mostly fine...  Once again it will be the D that will be this team's undoing...  Again--Fatty should have removed Capers.  He tries like hell with what he has--and that is to be admired...but that fat boy ain't too bright...

Ain't that the damn truth HD.  Capers obviously has lost his intensity.......maybe the man is just burned out and no longer gives a shit (that happens to people....they get so damn rich they lose their competitive edge).   I remember a couple of years ago at the Tampa Bay-Packers game at Lambeau and Josh Freeman made the Packers D look like a second tier Division 1 college team out there.  Looking at the records I see Freeman threw for 340 yards and some running back named Blount rushed for over 100 yards against Capers' D.

After 3 quarters of that I basically lost it ...........just seething at Capers' ineptness with the Packers only up 21-19.   Will never let another defensive coordinator get me escorted out of Lambeau Field again.   LOL LOL.

You guys are preaching to the choir here... I was done with Capers after his third inexcusable playoff meltdown.  Capers is an old dog and a smug one at that.  He thinks he knows it all and is unwilling to or incapable of making adjustments when it becomes obvious his initial strategies aren't working.

Sadly, he's likely to be retained again because the Packer defense should do a little bit better with the influx on good young talent.  I would not be surprised, however, if we suffer defensive disaster in the playoffs this year.

Too bad the Shareholders can't just release Capers.  I still think Lovie Smith would have been a much better fit......but NOOOOOOOOOOOO ... Fatty is keepin' Capy instead.

What I do see in the defense is some young talent although they have a lot to learn. They will look very good sometimes this year and at other times appear to be lost. Jolly beefing up the line will help. Datone and Nick can be play makers. Will our secondary be consistent without the knowledge of a Woodson or a Collins?
