Normally I would agree with this article, but after some thought, it might make sense. Vick would give the Jets instant respectability on offense, which the Jets desperately need. If the Jets are smart enough to compliment him by drafting some WR talent and maybe a few free agents then the Jets would have a decent offense. After that, the Jets can be patient and possibly draft a QB in the years to come. There are really no viable options. Alex Smith is a QB who needs a lot of talent around him to succeed, kind of like Sanchez, so I don't see the point of getting him. Vick is the kind of QB that makes plays and makes the talent around him better. The article compares bringing Vick here to bringing Tebow here and that isn't correct. Vick has proven he can play QB, Tebow has not. Will Vick take the Jets to the SB? Probably not, but he should make the Jets competitive again for a few years at least.

The Jets won't be able to afford Alex Smith because of the ignorant move to give Sanchez an extension last spring. Vick already said he wouldn't play for any money less than what Sanchez is making.
Look at the new trend of young quarterbacks. All the coaches are looking for the big prize, we should look to just be competitive? Vick is one rib or head injury away from retiring. (I know it can happen to any player in the NFL), but Vick's style is such that he becomes a running back once he leaves the pocket which happens more in one game than most QB's in a season.
Latest rumor is to keep Sanchez, hire a new GM, and build around him. Gee, why didn't they think of that 2-3 years ago when their talent was evidently slipping? Again, just a rumor.
It was painful watching the sports channels this week. As the suits were giving the "what ifs" for a playoff picture, the big Jets story was Tebow-Rex. Over and over. And over.

If they get Vick, that's when I stop being a Jets fan. I draw the line at scumbags who are cruel to animals.

Oakland was always a "safe haven" and last stop for thugs since before the merger, and Vick couldn't even get a look there.
