A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Farrior was a team captain who was due $2.82 million in the final season of his contract. The pending roster cut saves the Steelers $2.825 million against the salary cap.

Four years ago, Farrior signed a five-year, $18.25 million contract that included a $5 million signing bonus.

For his career, Farrior has recorded 1,220 tackles, 35 1/2 sacks, 11 interceptions and 15 forced fumbles.
