I think that they drafted a guy who they considered a first round talent. They kept Hoyer until the very end...they just had no room for him on their roster.

No. They cut him right before the season started. Hey, were not talking about a top tier qb. He might make a decent backup qb but I cannot imagine anything more than that.

I'd say he's not even 4th string if New England didn't think enough of him to put him on the practice squad.

Dude, I don't know anyone that carries a QB on the practice squad. QB's are a dime a dozen for backups. They're everywhere. New England has only two QB's on their roster and none on their practice squad. The Steelers' are the rarity where we kept three on our active roster and they cut a rookie who I considered better than Batch and Leftwich probably only because he did not have NFL experience.

He's playing in the Canadian league now. I guess he wasn't a rookie, he played for Philly in 2011.
