Total BS. Not that interested in ancient history anyways.

But if I was, I'd rather read something intelligently written:

But truly I'd really prefer to check out this new book I put up which makes the case that Brady is the best ever. Much more interesting and topical.

Total BS.

You know that without reading it. Awesome.

Everytime somebody uses the term "Three time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots" it becomes current.

But if I was, I'd rather read something intelligently written:

Yea, I was thinking about it, then I found out it was this Pat fan authors 4th self-published ball wash book about the team.
I'll read a serious book that tries to honestly make that case, but I'll pass on one by a guy who probably wears a Bruschi jersey to bed.
Seriously, read the book I put up. Disagree with every conclusion the guy comes to it if you want, but if it doesn't at least make you think you're a Pats pink-hat of Ragsian proportions.

Bottom line: In the overall picture of things Spygate is a minor footnote in history - very minor. Totally overblown. A stupid rule was broken. A fine was paid. A top draft choice was forfeited. (If the Pats had that draft choice, there is s strong chance Jordy Nelson would be a Patriot instead of a Packer right now. So the penalty did hurt.) Recording via videotape of human activity done right out in the open in plain view (therefore, not "spying", which implies that the person being watched has no knowledge he's being watched, which is not the case here) is simply not a big deal. No real advantage gained. ("One" on a scale of 100).

Best summary: Nothing more than a stupid mistake, that had no impact, that was blown up by bitter haters to be something far greater than what it actually was.

LOL. To what ever proportion should think me a pink hat, you are a hater (or should I say "despiser" of equal to, or greater, degree.

Patriots are a love-em or hate-em team. Lots of fans love em (me). Lots of fans hate em (you). Difference is, haters don't bother me and don't affect my enjoyment in the least. Even better, I take the hating as a compliment. And I get to celebrate a lot. Because they win a lot. I like celebrating. cheers

But even though we are opposites (me love; you hate) we have one thing in common. We watch it all. When NE plays, it is always facinating Must See TV.

(1) The
filming enabled the Patriots coaching staff to anticipate the defensive
plays called by the opposing team. According to Walsh, he first filmed
an opponents’ signals during the August 20, 2000 pre-season game against
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After Walsh filmed a game, he would provide
the tape for Ernie Adams, a coaching assistant for the Patriots, who
would match the signals with the plays.

Walsh was told
by a former offensive player that a few days before the September 11,
2000 regular season game against Tampa Bay, he (the offensive player)
was called into a meeting with Adams, Bill Belichick and Charlie Weis,
then the offensive coordinator for the Patriots, during which it was
explained how the Patriots would make use of the tapes
. The
offensive player would memorize the signals
and then watch for Tampa
Bay’s defensive calls during the game. He would then pass the plays
along to Weis, who would give instructions to the quarterback on the
field. This process enabled the Patriots to go to a “no-huddle”
offensive, which would lock in the defense the opposing team had called
from the sideline, preventing the defense from making any adjustments.
When Walsh asked whether the tape he had filmed was helpful, the
offensive player said it had enabled the team to anticipate 75 percent
of the plays being called by the opposing team.

Two things;
It would be pretty difficult to memorize both the signals being given and the pre and post snap formations in real time and, if a QB is knows what the defense is doing 75% of the time, it seems to me he's playing with a pretty big advantage.

The author goes on in this section to explain how in that first (2000) season of taping, despite having an overall lousy season the Pats offensive performance improved the second time they played the same team in all but one case.
Remember back when they used to say "If BB sees you twice in the same season, he'll kill you"
For a long time that was true. Not so much anymore. Any theories why?

Read the book.

One other footnote came out of Spygate.

It stirred up memories in one Deacon Hamme who scratched the itch of his Rams with hatred of the Patriots; who he swore taped the pre-game warm ups of the SB vs. the Pats, and if he didn't leap from his church steeple still harbors said hate.Neutral

Well, if the Deacon said so......lol! Poor misguided Deacon. Just another loser reaching hard for any excuse, truth be damned.

Nice story. Written 2 days before the Pats lost in the playoffs to a team they'd already played that year for the third of four times since they lost their "meaningless" cameras.

Wanna talk then and now?

From 2001-2006 Tom Brady had an 87.05 passer rating against division opponents the first time they played.
He had a 93.02 rating against those same teams the second, or in one case third, time they played. His rating went up almost 6 points against teams he'd already seen. Amazing, or improbable depending on your point of view, especially when you consider the rematches were almost all played in December or January in the northeast.
From 2007-2011 he had a passer rating of 112.83 against division opponents in the first meeting of the year, 99.42 in the rematches.
Almost 6 points better against teams he'd already seen with the cameras,
better than 13 points worse without them.
How's that for then and now?

My favorite part is when it's over. People down here like it though. Watch it in bars like it was football or Nascar or something.
Craziest thing I've ever seen.
