Shields interference call Empty Shields interference call

Can anyone explain the interference call on Shields late in the third quarter ? I saw Avery pushing Shields and was expecting offensive pass interference.

Shields interference call Empty Phnatom Interference Call

Sam said he did not speak to the ref but Woodson did.

The explanation to him was that a defender cannot derail the path of the offensive player when running up field.

This was a terrible mistake on the part of the refs..AGAIN. Almost as bad as the one in Seattle. Both players have an equal right to the ball and to position. This is like saying Shields is guilty of a blocking foul in basketball instead of a charging foul by the defender. Good NBA refs no which is which and also know when there should be a NO call. The other blatant miss was that Shields was pushed literally with 2 hands while the ball was in the air. And if that was not good enough the ball was clearly uncatchable even if you were 7'6" Manute Bol. If the receiver had gotten in front of Shields like that do you think for once he'd have called offensive interference???? Not on your life.
