Packers played Bears three times a year in 1926 and each year from 1928 to 1933.

These things tend to go in cycles. A big key for us were the head coaches the Bears had after Ditka and before Lovie. They just did not hate us as much as Papa Bear.

It always seemed to me that Packer fans now over 60 were the ones that really hated the Bears.  To me (a Packer fan under 60) I seem to remember the Vikings being more of of a nuisance than the Bears. Maybe this year starts the era of Lions haters ?

The Packers had a very hard time with the Vikings in the 70's.  From 1968 to 1978 the Packers were 3-18-1 against them.

Actually, the Lions were a bitter rival between 1960-1965 almost as much as the Bears. That was the team that had Alex Karras, Roger Brown, Pat Studstill, etc. They were the one defense that could actually give Lombardi fits for a few years. They had a very good team but had terrible head coaches. Only team to beat us in 1962. Bears, the only team to beat us in 1963.

Some of those were defensive struggles:

1961   Green Bay             Lions 17 Pack 13
           Detroit                   Pack 17  Lions  9

1962   Green Bay             Pack 9 Lions 7
            Detroit                  Lions 26 Pack 14

1963   Detroit                   Pack 13 Lions 13  Kramer's PAT was blocked

1964   Detroit                   Pack 14  Lions 10  Played on a Monday night!

1965   Detroit                   Pack 31  Lions 21  Starr rallies team from 21-3 deficit
Green Bay              Lions 12 Pack 7  Hornung throws an INT

We did have some victories in which we won by a big margin.

Lem Barney (the other #20)
Milt Plum QB
Joe Schmidt and Wayne Rasmussen LBs

The 1967 football card checklist had the following Lions: Roger Brown, Gail Cogdill, John Gordy, Ron Kramer, Dick LeBeau, Mike Lucci, Amos Marsh, Tom Nowatzke, Pat Studstill, Karl Sweetan.

Somewhere in the mix was a guy named Joe Don Looney.........and the Paper Lion book and movie.   And of course Alex Karras.
