HAHA made solid tackles out there.   He looked very comfortable.......seems to be quick as hell.......was never out of position.......for one game I say he was worth the draft pick.    Sherrod surprisingly looked OK too as did Tretter.  Starks is ready to play.    Half of the game was played in a torrential downpour...........hard to assess much under those conditions.   We muffed two return plays.   Our TEs did nothing but scare me.  Titans backup QBs are better than the Packers backup QBs.

HHDC looked like a real NFL Safety.

Needless to say...it seemed odd seeing one in a Packer's uniform

It would be obviously huge to this team to have a legit Safety back there.  You might as well have labeled the position *Softy* in Green Bay the past two years.  As we discussed at the time, TT really fucked up by releasing Woodson one year too early.  Generally that's a role that requires as much/more brains/seasoning than necessarily special athleticism.  Mammoth hole back there and, along with Center and TE, the three roles that require the most concern on this team.  At best--another one/done unless somebody steps up big in each.  That D backfield was really an unforgivable mistake by TT/MM the past two seasons.  Utter shit until Tramon started to regain his prior form the back half of the season.  It's the one/only reason you really have to cut Capers a bit of slack for what that D has brought on game day.  He doesn't pick the ingredients--but the cake still sucked...

I was out of town and missed the game too but from what I've read Ha Ha looked pretty good... as JnC said, like a legit NFL safety. If that's the case already in the preseason, it bodes well. Apparently he's got the instincts and closing speed. He's only going to get better with experience.

Another huge plus from the game, according to Packers.com, is that Clay Matthews was using both hands effectively. You can take that with a grain of salt but, if true, that's fantastic news.

Regarding the release of Woodson, as you say "as we discussed at the time," I never thought that was a mistake at all. In fact, it was the perfect call by TT. The last thing you want to do is keep a player past his expiration date... and as we all saw in his last year in Green Bay, Woodson was so far past his expiration date he was starting to reek. He stinks in Oakland too. No, Woodson was never the answer. He would have been as crappy as our other safeties.

The reason our secondary stunk was because of the failed gamble on Morgan Burnett. The Packers believed 2013 was the year in which he would finally blossom and of course he didn't.

If Capers can't field a respectable defense with improved safety play and an extra pass rushing specialist in Peppers, they have to fire him. Maybe he deserves some slack for last year but my case against him goes back to 2009 with his failure to change his game plan against the JV Cardinals to the real ones... and his subsequent playoff failures against the Giants in 2011 and Niners in 2012. (569 yards, ouch... I might add with Woodson pathetically chasing Kaepernick.)

Teams who are weak up the middle, in any sport, usually have a very hard time succeeding. That Rodgers got this team to the playoffs with the horrible play from the MLBs and safeties says so much about how good the guy really is. And, yeah- I hope this new center can hack it, because we'll still be hard-pressed to advance in the playoffs if he can't.

Well, I didn't see the game so all I can go by is what I've read but apparently both Tretter and Sherrod played well. More to the point, no one was knocking them. If they had bad performances, you'd find mention of that on Cheesehead TV's "Cowchip list" or "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly."
