Because it's important for the man running the NFL to be consistent to every punishment or it gives the appearance that there is bias which could cause a major meltdown among fans.

Bullshit major meltdown. LOL come on man. Do you really give a crap? You or I know what went on in that elevator. The dude could have been taking a beating and pushed her off. Maybe she hit her head as she fails back. He may not even have hit her. You don't know. The commissioner met with both parties involved. Do you know what she told him? Do you know what he told him? You don't, so you don't know what judgement should have been passed on by the commissioner.diehardsteersfan wrote:Dmounts wrote:She still married him. They have been together since high school. She knows all about him. If it was money she was after she could have taken him to court and sued the hell out of him. That arguement doesn't hold water.

First off, why in the hell would you be defending a guy that knocked out his girlfriend? Did I miss something? Did he claim during his arraignment that his girlfriend passed out and hit the floor or some other excuse that excluded him? Hell no!!! He said, I didn't do it! It is a domestic dispute...everyone knows it. This article and the one posted above claims that she spit on him so he uppercut her and knocked her out. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I tend to agree with Randell that it was about the money or she really loves the guy and thinks she can turn him around. Let's just hope that this doesn't turn into something much worse in the future.
Roger Goodell is by far the worst NFL Commissioner ever. Never in my life have I seen a guy booed so unmercifully because people just do not like his out-of-control ego and his unfair practices.

Which is worst rape or abuse? Is six games enough for both? or is Two games for abuse, six games for rape the right amount? I think you made your case Rodger Goodell does have some piss poor judgement.

Re: The woman beater only gets two games... Roger Goodell is not consistent, is he???
If you give one player a 6 game suspension for conduct detrimental to the NFL..... shouldn't you be consistent and levy the same in a similar situation? Rice was arrested, Roethlisberger was not. Yet Ben got a suspension 3 times what Rice has. You ask which is worse? I submit that in the eyes of the NFL... the suspension isn't for the individual action- it is for behavior detrimental to the NFL's Player standards. When you start to pick it apart, weigh each incident...... the standard becomes plyable and looses it's intent. The NFL should not judge which action is more severe than another. It should merely issue a ruling because the actions is detrimental.... Period. Rice should have gotten 6 games. ALL NFL players should get 6 games as a suspension 1st time. 2nd time, season.... 3rd time, Lifetime. Let me remind you. These are adults, who are EMPLOYED. The NFL is the ruling agency. The team ( who is the employer) has legally empowered the NFL to act in their interest. Basically the NFL is a hired policeman & judge for the individual teams.Dmounts wrote:Which is worst rape or abuse? I wonder if you would have a different point of view if the woman was your daughter and the player was Johnny Manziel?Dmounts wrote:They have been together since high school. She knows all about him. Yet, in numerous post on this board, you have judged Ben Roethlisberger. You have called him rapist and predator..... Interesting how YOUR agenda appears. Who are you trying to compare? Do you think that Ben really raped those women? No charges were filed. One girl waited an entire year and the other when she first talked to the cops told them that Ben didn't do anything wrong. So we're comparing a guy who was never charged for anything getting 6-weeks off and then dropped down to 4-weeks for good behavior. I fail to see the comparison. Ben got screwed first by his accusers and then by the Commish. Ben got drunk, then accused falsely and then got 4-games suspension.

I really don't know what Ben actually did other than being stupid. Maybe he did come on to the girls but then stopped when they told him too or maybe he actually did something. Who really knows what actually happened. Nevertheless, Ben was never charged for anything and yet he got 4-weeks. He's the only one I know in the entire NFL that actually got suspended games without any actual charges? Why is that?

Since you fail to comprehend.... NO CHARGES filed against Roethlisberger.....he got 6 games.... Rice...no charges because she refused to testify.... he got 2 games... Holy fuck... tell me you aren't dumb enough to see. By the way... civil charges don't mean shit.... anyone can sue anyone they want. Hell I could sue you for upsetting me with your dumbness. Everything you just posted has been shown to be horseshit. So why the lame refresh? But, you being a Browns fan.... takes a while to sink in, LOL. What number rebuilding plan you guys on again? Read the highlighted part.... that's the part that says there was NO MERIT. They ALL agree to dismiss... ya know, the judge, BOTH lawyers, ect. But hey.... it was worth 6 games Right? You all better hope Josh Gordon doesn't get the Ben R deal..... but him being a poor disadvantaged black man... like Rice..... he should only get a 1/2 game suspension.Dmounts wrote:I would NOT think a steelers fan would see it anyother way. Me thinks you are having way too much fun with this. I never heard about a third time so I tend to believe that article very well might have been bull-hockey too.
And who in their right mind would wait an entire year to file a rape charge on a person. Sorry, I'm not buying it. And while that is running in the press, here comes another woman who happens to be in a bar with Ben partying and maybe her friends puts an idea in her head that this is a way to get some of his money because Ben is showing her some attention and buying her drinks? Sorry, there's way too many loops in this story as well. I really think it is bunk. Especially when this girl never reported rape until after she already talked to the cops in which she never reported rape to them at that time. And the final clue to this story after the entire investigation was finished (because it was investigated by local cops and the word I heard go around was that if Ben was guilty, they were going to nail his balls to the wall no matter who he was) that Ben did not do anything illegal, but he was acting dumb.

The judge asked Rice's future wife what she was going to do after the hearing was over, Ray Rice jumped up and screamed at the judge, "The dishes if she knows what's good for her." LOL
