Holy Shnikee!! Start the reunion. Hell HD, he's only 44. I'm sure he will have had time enough to scrape the rust off by the Minny game in GB. Just think of all the number 4 jerseys that will be in the crowd. Both Green and purple.

Wanna buy a pair of tickets, Ed? I'll throw in a teeth bleach and leave the gate unlocked to the mare stable for 45 minutes...MrEd4748 wrote:Holy Shnikee!! Start the reunion. Hell HD, he's only 44. It will never happen. I don't want it to happen.
But if it did happen, it would be one of the biggest media circuses in NFL history.

I don't seriously see any scenario where this will actually happen either, Duck. But it got a rise out of HD. I think Flynn is the answer until Rodgers gets healthy, if TT will just pull the trigger.duck wrote:It will never happen. I don't want it to happen._HD_ wrote: God almighty... What made Brett Favre leave the Packers in the first place, Aaron Rodgers?

Re: Paint thinner body shots all 'round!
Combination of Brett Favre becoming too good in his head and too poor on the field with the fact that Rodgers was only two seasons off his rookie deal expiring--and they needed to know what they had there before making a determination on a $$$$ extension... They forced Favre out...~Sheila~ wrote:What made Brett Favre leave the Packers in the first place, Aaron Rodgers?

Re: Paint thinner body shots all 'round!
Yup. The Packers even offered him a buyout if he'd just retire and just go away. They didn't want the PR disaster of the face of the Green Bay franchise shuttled off to another team, particularly one in the division. Favre declined, so they traded him to the Jets with a caveat that they couldn't trade him to a team in the NFC North. The Jets cut him, voiding that piece of the deal, so he was free to sign with the Vikings, who he really wanted to sign with all along._HD_ wrote:Combination of Brett Favre becoming too good in his head and too poor on the field with the fact that Rodgers was only two seasons off his rookie deal expiring--and they needed to know what they had there before making a determination on a $$$$ extension... However, as HD said, it was really all about Aaron Rodgers. They knew what they had from practice and a couple of spot performances in 2007... an amazingly talented QB who at that point was arguably better than Favre who also had an exceptional year in 2007, breaking lots of records and taking the 13-3 Packers almost to the Super Bowl. Favre's poor performance in the NFC game against the Giants sealed the deal and TT and MM decided to go with Rodgers to see if he was the next franchise QB they felt he would be.
Gutsy move... one that went against the grain of the Packer fan base, especially with Favre working his own PR machine... but one that paid off handsomely.

Yeah--but it didn't come without it's price--for the experience clearly burned up something in TT that he'll never reclaim...duck wrote:Yup. Thanks guys for the explanation!
I think it has to be hard for some of these QB's to be the best and then have to walk away when they just don't have it anymore.

Especially when many of them, like Favre, have very little else going for them.

That's so very true. If they haven't managed their monies well, they also must then find another career so to speak. Only a handful will stay in the game announcing or analyzing.duck wrote:Especially when many of them, like Favre, have very little else going for them.~Sheila~ wrote:_HD_ wrote:Yeah--but it didn't come without it's price--for the experience clearly burned up something in TT that he'll never reclaim...duck wrote:Yup.
