Season Over ?
Spoiled for 22 years. I guess we did not realize how lucky we were. The good thing to come out of this is that we will be running the ball 30-40 times a game.
With another lineman or two next season we could even lead the league in rushing.
Matt Flynn was released by Buffalo the other day. Definitely should sign him.
If we could keep him the rest of the season he could get a chance to redeem himself and maybe someone would give him a shot again next year. If worse comes to worse he could always be Zeke Bratkowski Jr. the rest of his career with us. We could have used him last night.

They are fools if they don't bring in Flynn immediately...milani wrote:Spoiled for 22 years. I guess we did not realize how lucky we were. The good thing to come out of this is that we will be running the ball 30-40 times a game.

3 times we had the ball between the 50 and 40 of the Bears last night and punted to put them deep. We had makeable 3rd downs had ARod been in there. MM should have gone with a trap or draw to Lacy and maybe he gets it to 4th and 2 or 3. Then give it to him again. If you had Peterson in your backfield what is your strongest option???? Wallace to Quarless? Wallace to Peppers?
Against both Cleveland and Minnesota Lacy had good gains on 3rd down and more than 5 yards. Even with 8 in the box do it, MM.

Re: Season Over ?
season is over, defense sucks,we don't get to play against qb"s like Weeden every week, weeden made our defense backs look super sized great,so did ponder.Bears, lions, panthers and san fran will be fighting for the playoffs pack sits at home.
Get rid of Capers next year and fix this constant giving up huge yardage in te passing game or get some fuckin players who can tackle and cover. Is it the scheme or the players.?

Flynn would be a perfect fit... the learning process would be reduced to almost nothing. While he's not the star backup we prematurely thought he was and while he might suffer from a loss of confidence from his last two stints, he would likely do as well as anyone else. You couldn't do much worse than Wallace last night.milani wrote:Spoiled for 22 years. I guess we did not realize how lucky we were. Regarding your lead question "is the season over"... it all depends upon when Rodgers returns and how many games we can steal until then. If he's out until the very end of the season, it's over, stick a fork in us. But if he's out 3-4 weeks and we somehow pick up a game or two, we still have a shot. With the return of Matthews, Cobb and Rodgers, this is a completely different team. I never envisioned this team hoisting a Lombardi anyway... but if they can somehow make it to the playoffs healthy, you never know what will happen.
Right now it's essentially a rate/time equation.

Knowing Finley is gone makes it even harder. Flynn may even get some extra motivation knowing this is the place where he did have his one day in the tundra. If there is a place where he did succeed it was that one final Sunday throwing bombs at the Detroit Lions. We know he can make a 3rd down pass if he gets a little practice.duck wrote:Flynn would be a perfect fit... the learning process would be reduced to almost nothing. If you're going to bring in Vince Young and Seneca Wallace...how can you justify NOT bringing in Matt Flynn?

Re: Season Over ?
That's TT. As we've observed over and over--once he makes a decision on a player...it doesn't matter how the prevailing variables might have changed since that decision was made--that was the decision and there must have been good/plenty reasons to have made it.JnC4GB wrote:If you're going to bring in Vince Young and Seneca Wallace...how can you justify NOT bringing in Matt Flynn?
The best example, of course, was Cullen Jenkins... You'd think it is so far into no-brainerland to bring in Flynn as insurance right now--except unless this is a very good read that Rodgers has a very minimal hairline fracture and will return as soon as the pain becomes tolerable...
I wouldn't be surprised to see him return for the queens game. You know he'll be pressing--and he swings more sack around there than most people know...
