The Broncos of Denver
They seem to be everyone's preseason pick to come out of the AFC and go to the Superbowl. On paper, the most stacked team.
Looking forward to November 24, 8:30 PM, Sunday night, Thanksgiving week. Denver at Foxboro. Brady/Manning once again. The 37 and 36 year old legendary quarterbacks of this generation commanding center stage one more time, not quite ready yet to pass the baton over to the young RGIII's, Russell Wilson's, Colin Kaepernick's and Andrew Luck's of the league. Huge media build up all week. Both teams undefeated at 10-0. Game of the year. Patriots fans been waiting all year to take the noise level up a notch. Gotta love it.
First play of the game, Manning drops back, looks for Wes Welker running a crossing patter over the middle. Ball is intercepted. Taken back 70 yards for a highlight pick-6 by............Vince Wilfork, who stiffarms Manning to the ground on his way to the endzone. Woooohoooo.

If the first play of the game is a 70yd int return you must not think too much of the Pats special teams.

Only the most astute of observers, such as yourself, would have picked up on that. I expected nothing less.

After two misses in the Eagles game, doubt is starting to creep into the minds of a good number of Pats fans about Gostkowski. Can this guy deliver the big kick in the clutch on a consistent basis? Not so sure anymore.

They should have signed this guy.
For the sheer story-telling of it, Havard Rugland has to be this morning’s winner. He’ll tell his story at The MMQB in detail Tuesday, but the short version is this: Soccer player from a small town in southwest Norway, enchanted with American football. Ordered a football online in early 2011, began kicking it for fun, made a YouTube video of him powerfully kicking a football, Norwegian TV picked it up, it got some buzz on American TV, and the Jets invited him for a tryout late last year. Detroit tried him out, then signed him last spring.

Well, we can't take too many Jets rejects. We have limits you know.

Should have. Gostkowski was 19-35 last year. That was 19th in the league in accuracy percentage. Not good. Plus, he's making Vinatieri type money and he's a big cap hit, so WTF? At his first miss this year that should have been made I'm off his bandwagon. At his second miss, I'll sign the petition to bring in someone else. This guy should be almost automatic. If he's not, See Ya.

Seven years later and it still amuses me every time AV strokes a FG that BB probably wouldn't even let the "big legged" Gostkowski try.
4th-3, NYG34 0:00 A. Vinatieri kicked a 52-yard field goal

Musta been because Vinatieri was not booting kickoffs out of the endzone and Gostkowski was. Then they went and changed the rules on Bill and moved the kickoff up so even I could boot it out (with a big running start). Oh the humanity! BB is probably deep in the bowels of his office burning the midnight oil and plotting his revenge against the league as we speak. Meanwhile he publicly endorses Gostkowski. But we know better, don't we?
