*Practice Report: No Murray, Jones at practice
IRVING, Texas – DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones were not on the field during the portion of Tuesday’s practice that was open to the media, leaving the possibility that Lance Dunbar could be the Cowboys’ starting running back Thursday against Washington.
Murray has missed the last five games because of a sprained foot and, according to a source, is doubtful to play against the Redskins. Jones aggravated a knee injury against Cleveland that has been troubling him for the last month.
If neither player can play, then the undrafted Dunbar would likely be the starter. Dunbar has 67 yards on 20 carries this season.
Three other starters were also missing.
Left tackle Tyron Smith is not practicing because of a high left ankle sprain with Jermey Parnell taking the first-teams snaps. Smith was hurt in the first quarter against the Browns and did not return. He said Monday he is hopeful to be able to play against the Redskins.
Nose tackle Jay Ratliff is missing his second straight day of practice because of a groin injury suffered early in the Browns’ game.
Safety Danny McCray was not spotted on the practice field either because of a hip injury. He was listed as limited during Tuesday’s practice.
Wide receiver Kevin Ogletree (concussion), center Ryan Cook (knee) and center Phil Costa (ankle) are not practicing. Safety Charlie Peprah (concussion) was on the practice field with his helmet.
