I mean, our offense needs to be way better than this (awesome game plan, again, MM!), but still... there is no point in continuing to trot this stiff out there if he can't hit from 38 in a dome

This is unacceptable if you cannot trust your FG kicker to make a moderate-to-long FG in a dome. First MM opted to go for it on 4th down instead of letting him try a 48 yarder. Then he misses two (both ways) from 50. Then he blows the easy 38-yarder. Finally he nails his final attempt but you could see the anxiety on his face.
Crosby is done. Kicking is 90% mental and he's lost his confidence and his edge.
If I were TT, I would cut him tomorrow and sign some guy who's been watching games from his couch the last few weeks.
I'd rather have an unknown quantity than a guy who is rattled and scarred. Crosby is damaged goods. Get rid of him.

Has to be encouraging when Joe Buck points out the Crosby has made all his extra point tries this year. WOW!
I hate tuning in on many of the other games today and seeing all these kickers launch a good kick from 40-50 at halftime, crunch time, or OT. If we're ahead 28-0 Crosby probably makes the kick because it is insignificant. Some guys are just born to choke.
I bet we could sign Longwell for the rest of the season at a bargain price.

nope fellows,crosby stays,I would like to see him gone but his kickoffs and pooch kicks and onsides kicks are to good for mcfatty to dump him at this time of the season.Shortwell would have us all bitching that his kickoffs are to short and it would really fuck up the kicking teams chemistry.

Again i wanted Bush gone after the 2007 playoff loss to the giants but again he is way to valuable on special teams as he is usually the first and only gunner down at the other end downing a packer punt.

How does a kicker like Mare who has been loafing in Timbuktu this season make 2 FGs with his eyes closed and an every day kicker like Crosby is left --right --left --right. Reminds me of Shaq trying to make free throws?
Incidentally, Rackers and Cundiff tried out for the Bears this week. I don't have a whole lot of faith in them either. Rackers missed a game winner against us in the 2009 playoffs and Cundiff cost the Ravens a shot last year.

Yes--clearly Cosby's performance is substandard and he has been afforded a reasonable opportunity to correct it with no success. So, does he require replacement? Yes. However, the question is timing. You don't change out a formerly reliable kicker just for another warm body that is only available because he was recently discarded by his former team in much the same way. The smart money makes the move only when you've found someone you're quite sure is better--and Billy Cundiff that ain't.

According to something I read on Cheesehead TV, Crosby isn't just the worst kicker in the NFL. He's the worst kicker in the NFL in about 10 years.
That said, I'd trust my dog to kick more than Billy Cundiff. That dude's horrible.

MB has a good point. Crosby does kick off well...the VERY REASON Ryan Longwell was let go.
He had two (and it should've been 3 but Hester took it out anyway) touchback kick offs at Soldier Field in December against the best returner in the NFL.
That shit MATTERS.
The thing about his misses though that is so galling is the way he misses. He's not missing the pipes; he's nearly missing the goddamn End Zone. It's embarrassing.
