Hey.........why am I the only one remembering the greatest team in the history of the NFL on their 50th Anniversary.

On Defense................End Willie Davis, Tackle Dave Hanner, Tackle Henry Jordao, End Bill Quinlan, Outside LB Bill Forester, Middle Linebacker Ray Nitschke,Outside Linebacker Dan Currie, Defensive Halfback Herb Adderley, Safety Willie Wood, Safety Jesse Whittenton, Defenseive Halfback Hank Gremminger.

On Offense................QB Bart Starr, End Max McGee, Flanker Boyd Dowler, Tackle Forrest Gregg, Tackle Bob Skoronski, Guard Fred "Fuzzy" Thurston, Guard Jerry Kramer, Center Jim Ringo, Fullback Jimmy Taylor, Halfback Paul Hornung.

Packers beat the Eagles that season 49-0 getting 628 yards and only giving up 54 yards. Whew ... what a game Max what a game!

Of course we remember..

It was October in 1962 amidst the Cuban Missile Crisis and we pull out a 9-7 win against our nemesis the Detroit Lions. They get revenge on Turkey Day, our only loss. The race goes down to the final weekend. Taylor has his best season ever. We also beat the Bears 49-0. Jerry Kramer takes over place kicking when Hornung suffers a leg injury and kicks 3 FGs in 40 mph winds to take the championship in New York. Ray Nitschke is the MVP of the game.

Life was never better.. Too bad 1963 was right around the corner.

Our country has taken alot of body punches.........the Civil War.........WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, the depression........the turnoil of the 1960s.......the Packers of the 1970s and 1980s........9-11........today's uncertain economy. But there is always a silver lining somewhere. When you're down and troubled and need a helping hand.........take a trip to Lambeau Field for a Packers game. It's a time warp back to the era of the 1961 Championship Game, the 1965 Championship Game, the Ice Bowl.......the Yancey Thigpen Christmas Eve Gift (first division title in 23 years), playoffs wins over Niners and Panthers in January 1997, the big regular season over the Cowboys in 1997, the playoff win over Tampa Bay in January 1998. And even the NFC title game loss to the Giants in 2007. A win over the Bears in the After Further Review game on November 5, 1989. GO PACK GO!!!

The only difference between then and now is the existence of Spotted Cow. Leinenkugels matters. GO PACKERs
