The Dallas Cowboys have acquired backup offensive lineman Ryan Cook from the Miami Dolphins, according to media reports online late Thursday and early Friday.

The reports were not confirmed. The Palm Beach Post reported on its blog that Cook, a 6-foot-6, 325-pound guard/center, posted on his Facebook page Thursday night that he had been traded.

NFL.com reported the trade for Cook, citing a source with knowledge of the deal. Compensation for the Dolphins wasn't known, the report said.

Cook, a former all-conference player at New Mexico, was drafted in the second round in 2006 by Minnesota.

He would be a versatile addition. He started three of his six games as a rookie at center, then started 16 games in 2007 and 14 games in 2008 for the Vikings at left tackle. The next year, he played guard but started only seven games.
He appeared in six games last year with Miami, with no starts.
