As La Canfora poits out, picking up Harvin's salary isn't going to be a problem for the Jets.
"He's too fast not to use deep," Carroll said.
Despite leading the team in receptions, Harvin was only third on the Seahawks in receiving yards (133), behind both Doug Baldwin (187) and Jermaine Kearse (168).
Harvin's time in Seattle will end with only 23 total receptions. The receiver missed 15 of 16 games in 2013 and only caught one pass last season. In his six-year career, Harvin has missed a total of 25 games, including seven to end his 2012 campaign with the Vikings.
On the New York side of things, Geno Smith suddenly has a pretty loaded offense, and Harvin will likely enjoy the fact that the Jets like to throw the ball around a lot more than the Seahawks.
Harvin will join a Jets offense that also includes wide receivers Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley, along with running backs Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson.
Harvin's first game with the Jets will likely come on Oct. 26 when New York hosts Buffalo.

Through five games with Seattle this season, Harvin was the Seahawks' leader in receptions with 22, but Seattle still felt like he wasn't involved enough in the offense. Before making the trade on Friday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll actually talked about the need to get Harvin more involved in the offense, specifically on deep balls.Jets were certainly in position to take on Harvin's $12M/yr salary. Entered week last in NFL with $95M committed to '14 salary ($133M cap)

Percy Harvin will now have 3 bye weeks on the season. Week 4 (SEA) this week (Jets already played) and Jets bye (Week 11) NOW IF THE JETS COULD ONLY GET A QB, I'D GIVE THEM JOHNNY NOT THAT GREAT AT FOOTBALL FOR A 1st RD PICK, hell even there 2nd ROUND PICK, JOHNNY IS NOTHING BUT A BACKUP ANYHOW, BUT HE IS BETTER THEN ANYONE THE JETS HAVE.

I thought Geno looked pretty good last night. I thought that he needed a deep threat and it looks like they went out and got one for him. I also don't think that the Jets need more drama on the team. Johnny needs to sit and learn how to be a NFL football player.

They contacted the Browns about Harvin but they either heard about his clubhouse BS or didnt want to take on his contract or both, it sure as hell couldnt have been about a mid round pick.
