Barclay Toast Empty Barclay Toast

Looks like MM confirmed a rather serious injury today. This paves the way for a newcomer so we can build what was clearly a banged up area in 2013. O Linemen for the Packers live at a premium these years.

With Barclay out, second-year guard Lane Taylor becomes the top reserve behind Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang.
Also, 2011 first-round pick Derek Sherrod, who suffered a career-threatening leg injury as a rookie and missed most of the past two seasons, becomes the top backup at tackle.
"Donny, they don't come any better than him. He's exactly what you're looking for," McCarthy said. "If you want someone to emulate what a Green Bay Packer football player is on and off the field, he's definitely one of your guys."
Good God almighty...  The Country Club is alive and well.  One marginal talent can't help but overindulge on the limited talent of another.  *Exactly what you're looking for*?  *They don't come any better than him*?  Probably the single worst O lineman to start for the Green Bay Packers this side of Marshall Newhouse in the past two decades and Fatty just creamed his pie...
Sorry to see anyone injured this side of Jim McMahon--but this is an addition by subtraction...

Barclay's injury comes less than a week after rookie fifth-round pick Jared Abbrederis tore the ACL in his right knee in practice on Wednesday.  The injuries to Barclay and Abbrederis come during a camp when the Packers are doing everything they can to limit injury risk — and have reduced the number of muscle pulls and strains that affected them in recent years.

The Packers have tapered down the intensity of each training camp practice, used GPS monitoring and other technology to track players' vital signs and exertion levels, and interrupted practice four times a day for extended water breaks called "regeneration periods."
McCarthy has been delivering on his promise to get to the bottom of why his team has been hurt by injuries more than any other over the past three years.
Duh?  ...and this is just the beginning--yet another continuous season of horrific injuries is upon us--all chocked up yet again no doubt to *bad luck* and not those pesky things called reasons...  There are reasons for everything...  The only question is if we are astute enough to identify them...

  • (Harder to cut with limited practices) You have to adjust to the changes over time. Ron Wolf is a big tackle and block guy, basics. I am, too. But I"m less in favor of the Packers play the Packers. He's a little more old school. I think in some practices the tempo is higher and preseason games you can get a fair evaluation of guys.

Wolf's a *tackle and block* guy and the current head coach would rather focus on *regeneration time*   Rolling Eyes

I can already see how this is going to go...and it's about as pretty as Duck's first lay...   Laughing
