It is getting kind of used up, isn't it? Whoever holds the patent on crappy rubber bracelets made a few bucks though.

Lol! Maybe, but Babe Ruth has been dead for 65 years. I bet No No Nanette is playing somewhere in America this weekend, so who got the better end of the deal?LRJets wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Babe Ruth's estate generates millions per year. He is enshrined in the HOF, Yankee Stadium, and oh yeah Baby Ruth candy bars.
No No Nanette does have a poster for the show lying around somewhere.
I think Colonel Rupert did ok by the deal.

While it wasn't as bad as trading away future Hall of Fame visitor Drew Bledsoe, the Pats did send the #16 pick in the 1985 draft to the 49ers in a trade.
They wound up with Trevor Matich.
It worked out OK for San Francisco too.

All of Jerry Rice's stats and records rightfully belong to New England. The history books should be so adjusted because Patrick Sullivan, the GM at the time, was a dumbass and his dumbass moves don't count.....even if the Pats made their first ever Superbowl appearance that season.
Another tidbit from that draft. Herschel Walker wasn't drafted until the 5th round and was pick No. 114 overall. Doug Flutie was pick No. 285.

Gup, relax. The Boston area teams have flourished in the past 50 years since the Celtics of the 60s.
Every team releases, trades, cuts players that flourish in their new setting.

I remember Reggie Langhorne wound up being the Browns best pick that draft.
He had a few pretty good years then demanded to be traded halfway through BBs first season.

To tell you the truth, I don't know who Reggie Langhorne is. I'm still flabbergasted that the Pats traded away their pic in the first round down from #16 to #28 to another team, who then went on to become the greatest receiver of all time. Blows me away. You would have thought I would have known that, but I must have not been paying attention to the one time that story was written around here. It is apparently not told very often, and for the life of me I couldn't find it the the Patriots official Press Guide. lol.
Speaking of 1985 and your boys Billy Sullivan and his son Patrick, how bout the time the Raiders Matt Millen punched Patriots General Manager Patrick Sulllivan in the head after a playoff game in the LA Coliseum? Sullivan - the mouthy punk -- was jawing all game at Howie Long who was from Boston and played for the Raiders. Matt Millen just didn't like Patrick's mouth. So he kicked his ass. Did you know about that at the time?
By the way, kudos to the photogropher who was Johnny On The Spot to take this photo. Great f#@king photo.

Wasn't the reason for that because if I recall, the World Football League was conceived? Trump owned the New Jersey Generals, drafted Walker overall #1 to a "personal services" contract , and then screwed the Giants when the league failed.

Something like that. I remember Flutie and the NJ Generals. Red uniforms.

Every team has a "One that got away" story that they don't like to remember;
2004
1 1 Eli Manning SDG
1983
1 1 John Elway BAL
1986
1 1 Bo Jackson TAM
And of course the worst of all time;
1987
4 98 Rich Gannon NWE

Good player. Very good return guy, competent slot guy. Think a bigger Edelman.
I can't remember the specifics and I'm having an issue that prevents me from looking it up right now, but little Bill took an instant dislike to the guy and screwed with him big time. As memory serves, bad enough that I'm sure even you'd say WTF?
I'll find out.
