Sunday In Cortland Empty Sunday In Cortland

Today (Sunday) was not a good day for the Jets.  Dee Milliner, our only  true ray of sunshine at corner went down. Diagnosis, probable high ankle sprain.  Dexter McDougle, a third rd. pick having shown some promise , tore an ACL.   Not many CBs out there.  Champ Bailey?  His ship sailed.

Oy is right!  Vey too!
While Idzik(GM) brought our cap back to health, some felt he dropped the ball in free agency regarding corners.  Walls and Patterson are now the stars.  Andrew Luck tore up the secondary with those short passes giving a hint to opposing teams how to play us.  A great run defense might not be enough.  Scoring 60 a game might be.

On WFAN last night, they said while McDougle is done for the year, Milliner's injury isn't season ending and he should be ready for the season opener. In football, passing games are successful when QB's have time to throw. It's going to be more important for the D line to get pressure on the QB. There was some positive stuff being written about rookie B. Dixon, so now maybe he'll get his chance. It would be nice if Wilson would live up to his 1st round status finally.

Basically, Dixon and Walls are the corners.  This Dimitri Patterson was a dud.  Seems to make rosters, but never sustains.  (Been on 7 teams).  They are talking Champ Bailey if he gets cut.  Who wants a 36 y.o. that will be cut?  Asante Samuel too.  Rex will have to play a 3 safety scheme.

It's possible Patterson just had a bad night. At least we can hope. The fact that he is still playing after all this time means he must have had some success.
