Haha. Wow. In color too. I was around then, but not yet old enough to understand the game.
Think of this about L.A. They have not one, but TWO teams whose nicknames are symbolic of OTHER PLACES. The "Lakers" of Minnesota, the Land of 1000 Lakes, and of course the "Dodgers" of Brooklyn, NY. Not to mention that they can't even hold on to a professional football team out there.

Haha. Wow. In color too. I was around then, but not yet old enough to understand the game.
Think of this about L.A. They have not one, but TWO teams whose nicknames are symbolic of OTHER PLACES. The "Lakers" of Minnesota, the Land of 1000 Lakes, and of course the "Dodgers" of Brooklyn, NY. Not to mention that they can't even hold on to a professional football team out there.
I just about remember the '55 WS when the Dodgers finally beat the Yankees. Gup, the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn was the first heart break I've ever encountered.
Al Davis (ironically of Brooklyn), had to leave L.A. as a football team was not supported by those California Raisins.
I remember the Lakers in Minnesota with Elgin Baylor. They prospered in L.A.
The Dodgers got their name from having to dodge the trolleys in the late 19th century.
