Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins will make his 2012 debut this week. He is expected to play in the team's dime packages against the Seahawks.

"He’s done a good job," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "As you guys know, he hasn’t practiced much through training camp, so he’s been practicing the last four or five practices, and that’s always a concern for you as a coach. Everyone feels so much further ahead than him. But he’s a veteran player. He’s worked very hard to come back from his injury and he looks like he’s getting acclimated to playing football again. He’s had a few good practices in a row, so hopefully there’s a role for him this week."

The Cowboys signed Brandon Carr to a $50.1 million contract in free agency and then moved up in the draft to take Morris Claiborne. Orlando Scandrick is the team's nickel back. Jenkins, a Pro Bowler in 2009, has made 46 starts in his four-year career.

Jenkins, who is in the final year of his contract, returned to practice last week and worked with the scout team. He had been out since reconstructive surgery on his shoulder in January. Jenkins worked with the Cowboys defense in practice this week.
"We’ve got to make sure he’s in game shape," defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said when asked what role Jenkins will play Sunday. "Well, how are going to do that? You’ve got to play him. First you’ve got to practice him. So we’ve done that. Mostly with just our sub stuff. Not with too much of the regular. So we’ve got to work him in. That’s what we’re doing."
