WAYNE HUNTER ERA IS OVER
The Jets picked up OT Jeff Otah from the Panthers. They had confidence once again in Wayne Hunter during the off-season. Since the off-season literally ends in two days, the Jets took back their confidence and acquired Otah.
His resume includes missing the last 31 of 32 games. Why the Jets didn't address this important void (giving Sanchez little protection and being the recipient of 39 sacks) is inexplicable.
If Otah works out for a conditional draft choice, it's a plus, if not. Well....they're the Jets.

If he's healthy, this trade is a steal. It's a conditional 7th rounder. HUGE upgrade - Otah's one of the best, IF healthy. Fingers crossed...
Well, the 2012 season is finally upon us. Time for the hitting to commence!

Today's papers indicate there will be a battle between Otah and Hunter. I was under the impression Hunter is gone.
Hope Otah becomes as valuable as Alan Faneca was to the OL.
If Holmes causes issues this season and disrupts the team equilibrium, than the fifth rd. draft choice we gave up for him will have turned out to be costly.

Re: WAYNE HUNTER ERA IS OVER
It was just announced that Jeff Otah failed his physical with the Jets. He was put on a PUP list that would allow him to get off it at anytime during the next seven days. In essence, if he fails his physical again, the Panthers must take him back and that leaves the Jets with Wayne Hunter as training camp begins.
How's that for brilliant plannng?

Apparently, the Otah deal is dead. He failed two physicals. Not to worry though, Matt Slauson said Wayne Hunter is "our guy all along" and is having a great training camp. He described his play this summer as "amazing."
