The Colts put up a banner for "Almost Making It To The Superbowl".

Yup, you heard right.

Just like Little League where everyone gets a trophy, the Colts put up a banner for "trying really hard" against the Patriots before losing 45-7.

But the banner is incomplete.  They should have put the score on it.  Very Happy

Good job Indy.  "Good job.  Good effort."  lol!

When is the "AFC Finalist Participant" ring ceremony?  I'd like to tune in.

I hear the players are all getting juice boxes along with their rings.  Should be pretty sweet.

Hahaha! Good one!

Not true but funny.

This one is true;

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Guess it's ok to put up banners for almost winning a Super Bowl.

Your team fucking cheats. They're a fraud. They've been caught cheating in every season they've won a championship. Making jokes about teams that do things right won't change that.

Ha ha.  Totally predictable.   An attempt at a comparison that is no comparison at all.

How many teams in NFL history can put a 16-0 undefeated regular season banner?   ONE.   Being that UNIQUE makes it worthy.

How many teams in NFL history can put up a Conference Finalist Participant banner?
SOMETHING LIKE NINETY EIGHT since the current playoff format was instituted.  Nothing unique at all.....especially in this specific case considering the lopsided score.  You think the Green Bay Packers would ever lower themselves to put up such a banner after getting beaten by the Seahawks.? God NO.  A thousand times NO.  The Packers have pride.  You think the Seahawks themselves would put up a "NFL Finalist" banner for making it to the Superbowl?  That's a greater accomplishment than the Colts after all.  Wouldn't dawn on them to do such a thing.

It wasn't just New England laughing.  It was the whole internet.  nbcsports.com's title of its article was, "Colts put up AFC Finalist Banner, Internet Laughs at Them".  Their words, not mine.  LOL.

The only thing more lame than the lame banner itself is the pathetic and outright fraudulent attempts to justify it by the likes of those pretend journalists Gregg Doyell and Bob Kravitz.  And now you too.  Their articles were ninth grade level jokes.  They couldn't even be honest with their analysis.  Just spitting out words that in their hearts they didn't sincerely mean.  Just phony water carriers for the organization proving that they will say anything, regardless of whether they themselves believe it.

I read plenty of posts by Colts fans in different places saying things like, "Irsay, please take that thing down NOW.  Its embarrassing."
I would ask Gregg Doyell, are those Colts fans "dolts" too, when he said only "dolts" have a problem with the banner?
But why ask a dishonest person a question, when you know you'll only get a dishonest response?

I'll just post a quote from Doyels article. But first I'll say the Colts have precedent for it. As do a lot of teams. As outlined in the article. Fact. Pesky, pesky facts.

The people up in New England, the fans and also the media – not all of them; just the fans and media we're hearing from, though as you know, we're hearing from a bunch – are astonishingly poor winners. Win and let the score speak for itself. And when your team got caught cheating in the game, even if the cheating isn't the reason you won, maybe sit the whole postgame trash talk out. Sometimes silence is your best option.

"A lot of teams"?   How many is "a lot"?  LOL.  Would love to see the list.

What does the quote you pulled from the douchebag's article with the title "Only dolts have problem with the Colts banner" have to do with my question?  I'll try again.  Many Colts fans were outright embarrassed by the banner.  I know because I read their posts.  Doyel said only "dolts" have a problem with the banner.  At least that was the article's TITLE.

Ergo, are those Colts fans who stated in all honesty that they were embarrassed by the banner, "dolts"?   According to Doyel now?

We know the Colts themselves say the banner "is about pride".   Therefore, we know what the Colts' standard is, and what the level of accomplishment they consider to be something worthy of "pride".  Not everyone finds that same standard worthy or acceptable in the same way.  Some may.  Most, I suspect, don't.

You say "a lot" of teams share a similar precedent.  Would love to know the actual count for NFL teams putting up "We Participated" banners.  I know the Lions have a banner for just making the playoffs.  Who else?  Something tells me it is not, as you say, "a lot".

Go fuck yourself. Seriously. Your team cheats and you'll do anything to try to take attention away from that. Your team cheated and you don't think it matters whether or not they did, just whether or not they can lawyer their way out of punishment.
Your team cheats Guppy.
Have for years.
Anything they've done in the last 15 years has that hanging over it.

FU too and horse you rode in on.
You, and whiners and crybabies like you are nothing but hot air spewing hypocrites who spew nonsense upon nonsense only so that you can feel better about yourself and your team.
People always try to tear down greatness.  That's what the insecure do.  They want to see those at the top fall.  Its something in human nature.  Its a mechanism they use to soften their own disappointment.
Not a quality of maturity if you ask me.
Not attractive at all.
That's really it in a nutshell.

The Patriots were accused of altering the pressure of the footballs in the AFCCG. Do you have any doubt they did?
Do you think Bevis and Butthead messed with the balls?
You'll never answer that question.
Because of the followup.
Which would show your hero to be a liar. Like he showed himself to be 10 hours after the game when he claimed no knowledge of the whole situation on his QB call in show.
Then called Butthead right getting off the air.
For the first time in at least five months.
Just because he was worried about him.
Then set up a meeting in the QB room.
For the first time ever.
Just to shoot the shit.
Are you stupid?

Very true.  6 is more than 4.  I never claimed otherwise.  (Nice rings by the way.)

I respect history.  And I recognize the accomplishments of other teams.  Including the Steelers six SB championships of course.

What I don't respect is crying, making phoney excuses, and throwing baseless accusations at other teams just because I'm disappointed that they beat my team.  That's not the way to view sports -- in my opinion.  Its distasteful and its whimpy -- in my opinion.  I don't like talking about Jerry Rice's use of stickum, or the Niners linemen using silicone on their jerseys.  I do it only as a reaction.  But I don't like doing it.  Jerry Rice was a tremendous football player.  I enjoyed watching him.  But he embarrassed himself with his momentary hypocrisy calling the Pats cheaters over some miniscule air pressure shortage in a ball, and worse, that the alleged "shortage" has not even been proven to the result of someone's deliberate action, as opposed to natural conditions.  (If you're comparing the "crimes", using stickum and silicone is MUCH worse.)  Now in 2015 there have been about a billion critical comments about Rice and the Niners, whereas last year in 2014 there were zero.  Its all unnecessary drama imo.  It didn't have to come up.  But this is the road he took himself (and the rest of us) down by being a hypocrite.

NE lost two heartbreakers in the SB to the Giants, as the entire world knows.  I didn't, and don't, blame the refs.  I didn't, and don't, claim the Giants got "favoritism", or any other such bullshit.  I didn't, and don't, make excuses, or make up garbage to say "NE was robbed".  The Giants were simply better - twice.  They made the plays to win (Tyree, Manningham).  Lucky or not, it doesn't matter.  They MADE those plays. Bottom line, the Giants made more plays, and that's why they won.  (Even Terrell Suggs showed some class and said the same thing after the Pats beat the Ravens. "They made one more play than we did", he said.)

That's the way it works.  When you lose, you tip your cap to the winner and hope for a better outcome in the rematch -- in my humble opinion of course.

In other words.... you don't like anyone to say anything bad about your team.... other than that you're ok?  LMFAO at your homeristic view of the world. I been a Steelers fan since BEFORE 1974. I guarantee you my team has cheated at some point in time. I don't condone it... but am realistic enough to know it goes on. YOu.... You claim that your team is above anything like that..... even when the allegations keep piling up. Duded, sorry..... but when there is smoke, there is usually fire. LOL...I'm waiting to hear the retort on this...
