Tom Bettis
Another Lombardi LB passes on to the gridiron in the sky. Bettis was decent but not as disruptive as Nitschke, the LB that took his place.
It was not so pleasant that he played his last season with the Bears, 1963. That was a difficult season sine the Bears beat us twice and edged us out of the conference championship by 1/2 game. The Packers were hosting the Bears in the opener that season and Bettis still had a home in Green Bay. His wife painted a sign on the outside of the garage that said " Go Bears, Beat the Packers."
Traitor.

Re: Tom Bettis
Not a traitor..........just had to make a living. I think Bettis wore #65 which is odd for linebacker. I have his 1955 Bowman rookie card..........PSA 7 condition..........hard to find in better condition than PSA 7.
Here is his 1963 Topps Steelers card (I think he played for the Steelers in 1962). Notice the Packers uniform.

Here is Bettis' rookie card (looks like he started out as a Guard........thus the reason for #65):

Re: Tom Bettis
If he was around now he'd probably beat out Brad Jones.
