Nice to see old friend Drew Bledsoe back in town to see the Pats bring home another AFCE division title.

The Belichick-Brady coach-qb combo have 12 of these "hats and tee shirts".  2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014.

How odd. I just this minute read an article about the 20 richest NFL QBs. Big brother Drew was 10th. Big time bootlegger.
Favre was fifth, Brady was fourth, Elway was third, Manning was second.
Roger Staubach was first. And worth more than the rest of the top five combined.
Who knew?

I knew Staubach was hugely successful in real estate, and Bledsoe in wine, and Elway in car dealerships, I think.  I didn't pay much attention to the numbers though, but Roger does blow the rest away.  I wonder if a net worth of $600 Mil puts him ahead of his fellow Texan, W?

Do you think Tom and Giselle file their Form 1040 "married filing jointly" or individually?  I always wondered what one of those tax returns actually look like.

Back to football.  I hope the Pats traveling to the Meadowlands next week is not a trap game.  Its going to be Rex's superbowl.  I predict something strange to happen; I don't know what, just that it will be strange, like something we haven't seen before, or only see once or twice a decade.  Just a feeling.

How 'bout them Cowboys?  Undefeated on the road, which makes them a little different than the other playoff teams.  If I were in the NFC I wouldn't sleep on that team.

AFC Least?  Ask Aaron Rogers about that Buffalo defense.

Congrats on another South title for Adam Vintieri (the second leading scorer in Patriots franchise history) and his fellow little blue ponies. Very Happy

I'm glad to see Bledsoe's doing well. I read a thing a few years ago that he was kinda punch drunk. Then almost immediately a read a Borges article (I know how much you love him) about how well he was doing.
I always thought he got a bad rap.  He was, imo, as tough a guy as you'd ever find, form what I've heard as nice a guy as well, a top NFL QB for a good number of years, and a lot smarter than he was ever given credit for.
If being born with a kind of dumb look on your face is going to be held against you forever, what do you want to say about this guy;

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

All kidding aside, I think Bledsoe's a Hall of Famer I could make a case.  In a slow year anyway.
I could make a case against it too. Never mind. I just always liked the guy.
My daughter met him. When he came to the hospital  in Boston she was in. On a tuesday. No press, no fanfare.
Just came to say hey. Along with the entire Pats o line on their day off.

So..... the guy, and his fat friends, will always be aces in my book.

Heh. Little blue ponies. Cute.

Quick trivia question;
Who has the least rusty* Super Bowl ring, Adam Vinatieri or Bill Belichick?
What about Luck? 3 playoff apperances in his first 3 years? What did Brady do in his first three years?
Fetch gatorade for the guy who carried a clipboard for the guy who wore a headset behind the starter.
Played on a team that won a Super Bowl almost in spite of him.
And missed the playoffs.
Heh.

*I was gonna say tarnished, but I was afraid you'd take that the wrong way.

The Chiefs beat the Patriots??? What year was that????

That picture is either doctored (very funny, ha ha), or it came through a wormhole from the Alternate Universe. Wink

Did you hear that the NFL is coming out with a new trophy and Coach Belichick is going to be its first recipient?  Ya, its a step above "Coach of the Year".  Its called "Wizard of the Year".  It goes to the head football guru whose football genius boarders on wizardry because he has (1) the most roster turnover over a 15 year period, and (2) still has the highest success rate despite the constant roster turnover.

Um, no. He has the least. Every other team in the league is tied for first, the Pats are alone at 32nd. I think. I can't think of another team in the league that has somebody on their roster that was there in 2000.

Pats are tied for 31st with the Raiders. Sebastian Janikowski. My mistake.

Come on.  ONE guy?   Just ONE guy?  You can't possibly create sustained LONG TERM success with just ONE GUY out of an otherwise constantly changing and morphing 53 man roster.

Can you?

 I don't know. Ask Shula. Or better still, ask somebody who's done it without ever having that "one guy"

Cool picture. I see a coach and 8 players.
6 of whom have never won a championship,
none of whom have won one in 10 years.
They're living on their rep Gup. An impressive rep, but one that's really, REALLY old.

I didn't even know if I wanted to bring this up here, but I talked to a guy this weekend, a Patriots fan, who brought up something really interesting;
For the big majority of his career Tom Brady has been exactly what Patriot fans rag down Peyton Manning for.
Think about it.

I think you might be missing my point about the "wizard" and the ONE GUY. And who I think is more responsible for the Patriots success over the last 15 years.

And Robert has had only 3 head coaches as the owner:  Parcells, Carroll, and BB.    20 years.

HA! You're a grandfather aren't you? And Drew Bledsoes kid being in high school suddenly makes you feel old? That ship has sailed.
I know what you mean though. 16 years ago seems like yesterday. Much too quick for a kid to be born, grow, and make the varsity.

Ugh.  I've heard kinda the same thing from an older golfing buddy a few years ago, and I never forgot it.  Now I know its true, and I'm the one saying it to the young folk.

The hardest part is waking up one day and admitting to yourself that you are definitely on the back nine.

George looks stupid part I

My folks live down here now, that was part of my evil plan in moving here, and they and a few friends were at my house for new years. Good party. About one oclock dad asked me why I wasn't having a good time.
I said, "My grandma died on new years day."
He said, "Gotcha beat, my mother died on new years day."
Duh.

George looks stupid part II/more maw-maw wisdom

I was having an argument about something stupid with my grandmother when I was about 15. I said "You think you're never wrong!".
She said "No, I think I'm wrong all the time. I just don't open my mouth unless I'm sure I'm right. How about you?".
Duh.
