Hoodie joins Marty Schottenheimer with 200 wins.  One more and he passes him to become No. 5 all time alone.

Only 50 more to catch Tom Landry, and 128 more to catch Don Shula.  LOL.

He was asked if he remembers his first?  He said, "Ya, it was in Foxboro against the Patriots, 20-0", in his second game as Browns HC.

He said, "All this means is that I've coached a lot of good players over the years."

Shotty gets a bad rap. He belongs in the Hall.

You're right, he should go in.  You just don't pile up the 5th (next week 6th) most wins in NFL history as a HC and not be considered to be elite among your peers.  He's got more wins than Chuck Noll, Bill Parcells Bud Grant, Joe Gibbs, Marv Levy, Hank Stram, Bill Walsh, Mike Ditka, George Allen, John Madden, and Vince Lombardi.  And they are all in.   It is clearly a slight that should be corrected.

It's the playoff record that keeps him out. But if you look at his losses 3 of the 4* that kept his team out of the Super Bowl, SBs he would have won imo, had absolutely nothing to do with coaching. Fluke plays and fumbles in games his teams should have won.
I wish the Browns had kept him.

* I'm counting the 2006 SD loss to the Pats. They would have played the Colts in San Diego and beaten them pretty easily. Bears in the rain might have been tough for that team, but they would have been there.

As a Pats fan, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the above.

Ya, but even if you give him those 3 games as wins instead of losses, you would only change a 5-13 playoff record to 8-10.  Still not exactly stellar.

With only 5 career playoff wins, and factoring that he has more losses than all the other HCs also with 5 playoff wins which places him below them, that puts him at No. 38 all time.

Anyway you cut it, bad playoff record.   Still, on balance, as a football lifer and HC for four teams over 22 years, with 200 regular season victories, I think he probably qualifies for entry to the club at some point.

Speaking of wins, it is no small feat for a qb to pass two legends John Elway and Dan Marino in number of reg. season career wins.

3.   Tom Brady    149
4.   John Elway   148
5.   Dan Marino   147

(We know who Number 1 and Number 2 are.  And they're not going to be caught anytime soon, if ever.  But, if you want to include losses, and talk highest win percentage, then the names at the top have to be re-shuffled into a different hierarchy.  I remember when Brady was ballyhooed for being the first qb to have 100 more wins than losses.  Well, Manning will join him in that category by mid season this year.  I love watching Drew Brees and all the yards he throws for, but his career win percentage aint great, and its below guys like Donovan McNabb, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethelisberger.)

You don't stop playing after a win in the playoffs.

Interesting you bring up Brees. Of the 20 guys who started games for Schottenhiemer, Brees won the most.
40.
How many of BBs wins came with Brady did you say?

Wait, even I can figure this one out.  Let's see.  BB has 200 and TB has 149.  Ergo, BB has 149 with Brady and 51 without him.  Three times as many with, as without.  Regular season.

Might as well stick with a good thing.  BB:  "There's no other quarterback I would rather have than Tom Brady."

Smaaht man that BB.

And yet, according to Kraft, BB had little to no input in the 2000 draft, and signed Drew Bledsoe to the biggest contract in NFL history.
Sometimes smaahtness works in circles so wide it almost seems like luck, huh?

I'll give him his due if Garappalo was his call though. That kid looks like he knows what he's doing.
Based on the one game I saw him in anyway.

But he had enough smaahtness to start Brady over Bledsoe once Bledsoe was healthy.  It was a huge controversy at the time.  But he took a stand that to half of the fanbase was very unpopular.   Said simply, "We do what what we think is best for the team."  Turned out to be a good call.

As far as draft picks go, nobody hits on all of them.  For some reason BB's good picks get overshadowed and forgotten while people focus mainly on the ones that failed.  But that's ok, that's what we do.   And like I said, he's constantly picking after the Jets, Bills and Fins take all the prime steak, just doing the best he can with the leftovers. lol
