The greatest QB draft class of all time was 1983, right? That's what I'm told, anyway.
In their rookie years Elway, Blackledge, Obrien, Eason, and Marino (Kelly was in the USFL) had these combined stats;

362/684 4689 yds 31 td 25 int 74.62 qbr 13-10 as starters.

It should be noted that the majority of those numbers are Marinos. The positive ones anyway.

Luck, III, Tannehill, Weedon and Wilson this year;

1428/2414 17,371 yds 95 td 63 int 83.61 qbr 43-35 as starters.

Screw 1983.

We knew Luck and III would flourish, but who knew this quickly? I think Aikman and Peyton won 6 games combined in their rookie years. You'd think in a passing league these days, the QB position would be even more of a process than years ago.

Wilson is the real surprise. I remember watchng the draft, and Wilson was still on the board being consoled by his girlfriend (a la Brady Quinn) as the picks were flying by without him.

Goes to show you how in most cases as Rags would say, the draft is a crap shoot.

Cleveland paid millions for Trent Richardson, who will continue to shine, and Washington got Alfred Morris from tiny Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida....not known as a football hotbed.

And.................the Jets still have Sanchez!!
